My Prezi

My Prezi demonstrates my journey to become a teacher. I go through my past, present, and future. I focus on more of why I want to be a teacher rather than the specific area of teaching. I chose to do this because honestly, I'm not 100% certain what I want to teach. All I know for sure is that my desire to teach is strong and I was inspired to take this path because I worked with a great group of children!

I really enjoy using Prezi. I think I like it the best out of any other tools. I've used Prezi many times in other classes. I like the ability to open it on any computer. I remember how difficult it was before I used Prezi to open my presentations on school computers because I have a Mac and the format never worked properly. I also like how it saves to a "cloud like" server rather than having to have a flash drive.

Three Great Teacher Blogs

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"
           -Charles Caleb Colton

I posted this quote because it wouldn't surprise me if as I get further into blogging as a teacher my blog shows some of the characteristics I love in these blogs.

My favorite teacher blogs:

1) What The Teacher Wants

I really enjoy this blog because it's aesthetically pleasing first and foremost. It has a very cute header, the layout is well placed, and it has a lot of pictures. It also has SO many links to activities that she shares and suggests others to use. The links are to handouts and activities for the kids as well as organization documents for teachers. Very helpful, especially for new teachers.

2) Fun in First Grade

This blog is adorable! Very well designed. It is my favorite header I have seen as I've been exploring teacher blogs. It's creative and simple with not too much clutter or text. This blog makes it easy to connect with her on other forms of social media as well. She has pictures of her classroom and it matches her blog! She shares her lessons and activities thoroughly.

3) Teaching in High Heels

This blog is helpful because she stays up with current events. For example, she shared an activity she did with her students for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This is helpful in sharing ideas and planning activities ahead of time. I also enjoy this blog because she is a younger teacher and it's very easy to relate to her.

I hope you guys like these blogs as much as I did!

Miss Jordyn

Welcome to my Blog

Hello!

Welcome to my blog. My name is Jordyn Ellwood, I'm 22 years old, born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and a graduate of The Ohio State University. I'm from a male dominated family and a huge football family. I received my bachelors degree in communication and have a media production minor. I originally aspired to be a sports reporter, but had a change of heart. Outside of school I enjoy traveling anywhere and everywhere. I really enjoy exercising (not cardio though), my favorite activity is boxing. I also love movies and bluegrass music.

I aspire to be an early childhood educator. At the moment I would like to teach third grade. I want to teach simply to help other people. My goal as an educator is to help children further their mind and reach their own educational goals. I want to create a safe, fun, active, learning environment for children and be a positive influence in their life.

Here are a couple pictures of me and one of my three brothers, Sam. He is one year older than me.
